I am planning to use my blog to detail the exciting (sometimes painful) processes of discovery en route to understanding and implementing the various neuroimaging techniques I use in my research.

While there are definitely more comprehensive and helpful resources out there, the complicated and layered decisions that often go into neuroimaging analysis makes it very difficult to develop a one-size-fits-all tutorial, meaning most of us usually have to do a lot of figuring out on our own. I figure if nothing else, this will be a good place to store reminders of lessons I've learned if I have to use the same techniques again.

So far softwares I've used include FSL, SPM8, SPM12 and Conn, using mostly Matlab, bash scripting, and a little bit of Python. The types of analyses I'll likely post about the most are DTI (FA analysis and maaaaayyyybe tractography, which a whole 'nother beast), VBM, PET and fMRI.

I will also post the disclaimer that I am NOT an expert coder or an expert at neuroimaging analysis - I usually just try to cop together enough information from various sources to help me understand the right steps regarding my analysis and how to implement them. If you are looking for someone who is an expert (and whose website has greatly helped me many times), Andy's Brain Blog is a fantastic place to start

Here I am going to walk through preprocessing fMRI data for analysis the GUI in SPM12 (https://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm/software/spm12/)...
